PROJECT NM

By Gisel Habibnejad Oftentimes, there comes a point when you have to make the most important decision of your life–to proceed with your unconventional ambitions or pursue a life in the rat race. PROJECT NM helps local millennial women who crave an unconventional lifestyle and have a love for fashion but don’t know where to begin. As an online platform for female entrepreneurs to encourage others in the same path, PROJECT NM builds you up and provides a space of encouragement as you make your own decisions and take the steps needed to accomplish your goals. Fashion is a centralized point of the brand, where women can find a deeper connection through a more common ground. “It’s pretty amazing what can happen when women support each other,” shares founder and CEO Nicole Gonzalez. When Nicole found herself in the same situation many of us find ourselves in, she suddenly wished there was somewhere she could go to find the answers. And just like, that the first of its kind in Miami was born. “Being an entrepreneur is sometimes a lonely journey. It’s hard to find people who believe in what you believe in and see that there’s more to life than the ordinary,” she recalls. Nicole had the revelation when she joined the 9-to-5 workforces but realized she wasn’t happy and wanted to find her own version of freedom, “I wanted to create my own reality and live out my greatness.” Presently, she enjoys working on a daily basis towards her ultimate goals fueled by endless passion. What’s unique about the brand is Nicole is taking the journey with you. As she continues to develop the company, you’re right there with her completing yours. Daily tips, advice, and words of encouragement can be found on PROJECT NM’s website and Instagram page. The brand launched in November but had already begun creating a buzz in the social media circles through its Instagram account. With posts motivating users to pursue their goals day-by-day, along with merchandise modeled by local and national bloggers who all rave about the brand’s system. T-shirts designed by PROJECT NM are released monthly with the hopes of inspiring and encouraging women as it allows them to carry their motivation with them everywhere they go. Their first shirt displayed the word “entrepreneur” on it and was a big hit. At times, entrepreneurs (especially women) find themselves in a constant struggle with rejection and doors closing. Within this negativity, it can become easy to lose sight of the finish line and even yourself. PROJECT NM supports the balance of a social life and business realm by encouraging strong friendships, supportive relationships, and accomplishing a passionate work life. The personable experience introduces the concept to subscribers with weekly emails allowing readers to get to know Nicole and PROJECT NM. As for PROJECT NM’S future, they are currently in the process of designing other merchandise, which includes home décor and pieces for your creative space. In addition, they are developing a helpful source known as the “little black book” concept where local contacts will be stored for your use and are encouraged to build relationships, free of cost. You’ll never feel stuck and held back from moving forward when you have them right at your fingertips. Down the road, they plan to create local workshops and events to help celebrate, encourage, and connect millennial female entrepreneurs. The company shows potential in creating lifelong friendships and business relationships amongst women with one common goal–to grow and develop their visions. Simply put, PROJECT NM is the motivational speaker you need at a relatable pace and at a reachable distance. It’s that best friend who never stops believing in you, the proud mama who continues to push you, and the coworker who motivates you. You’re not alone in this journey when you have your PROJECT NM tribe. “My mission is to empower the PROJECT NM tribe to realize they CAN and WILL live the lives they’ve always imagined if they believe in their own potential and take that step.” Join the PROJECT NM tribe by following @shop_projectnm on Instagram & join their mailing list by visiting their website www.projectnm.com Click here to view this post in the MSM January/February 2016 digital issue

Miami Real Estyle – Tropical Modern Architecture with Ralph Choeff

By Angela Betancourt Award-winning architect Ralph Choeff is one of the leaders of the Tropical Modern architectural movements in South Florida. Along with his partners at the Choeff Levy Fischman Architecture & Design firm, the team has mastered the art of Tropical Modern architecture. They’ve designed some of the most celebrated homes and hotels in the city; including the Mondrian South Beach Hotel and The Anglers Hotel, both in South Beach. One of their recent projects, the Rivo Alto Island Residence in Miami Beach, is a stunning example of how well Tropical Modern architecture plays into its surroundings. The home blends the interior with the exterior by using tall and expansive windows and sliding glass doors for maximum views and enjoyment. The interior of the home radiates a Zen-like atmosphere that, as Choeff would describe it, takes the owner to a place outside the experience of the day-to-day. A native New Yorker, Choeff moved to Miami in 1978 after graduating from the Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. “I believed that Miami was ready to experience real architectural growth after being stagnant for many years. I felt Miami gave me the best opportunity to succeed and offered the weather I desired,” he said. And succeed he did. Choeff has become a highly sought-after architect and has been commissioned by many celebrities and VIP’s including Cher, Matt Damon, Barry Gibb, Alex Rodriguez and many others. His work has been featured on national TV programs such as the Today Show and in various high profile design magazines like Hospitality Design. His name has become synonymous with Tropical Modern architecture in South Florida. “My biggest professional accomplishment today, I believe, is how far I have come in the evolution of my professional career and how I approach design. I am proud to have been one of the leaders in the movement of Tropical Modern architecture in South Florida,” shared Choeff. Choeff’s success in this space evolved from his love of modern architecture. In college, he began to admire the work of Walter Gropius, a German architect known as one of the pioneers of modern architecture who was also the founder of the Bauhaus School. “The modern glass skyscrapers of NYC were inspirational to me. When I moved to South Florida, I yearned for the opportunity to produce modern architecture. Once I got that and started designing modern buildings, tropical architecture evolved when technology allowed us to create vast and tall sliding glass door openings which also allowed us to take advantage of our climate. Tropical Modern architecture was a natural evolution that stemmed from that,” he said. As this New Year begins to unfold, Choeff will undoubtedly continue to make strides. He is very excited about all of the firm’s current and upcoming projects and has high ambitions for the future. His ultimate dream project is to build something so successful it will gain enough notoriety to positively inspire the industry and that is one more thing he can be proud of. Village of Merrick Park Kicked off Christmas with Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

By Zachary Devita Illuminated with colorful bulbs, children wearing reindeer antlers and the echoing sounds of holiday music, the Village of Merrick Park kicked off Christmas in South Florida with their Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Hosted by former Miami Heat player Shane Battier and the Battier Take Charge Foundation, the night included performances by Coral Gables Senior High School, the Miami Royal Ballet and even a special visit from jolly old Saint Nick. Shane and his wife, Heidi, established the Battier Take Charge Foundation around six years ago and have been an integral and popular part of the Miami and Coral Gables community. “I’m a proud Miamian. I live here locally in Coral Gables and we’ve established roots here. This is home, so, I think it’s the responsibility of not just me, but everybody, to be a part of their community. To do what they can to make it better,” shares the former Heat player. When asked about the Christmas Wonderland the Village put on, Shane said, “This is a fun celebratory event…when I was asked to lead the tree lighting celebration, I took it as a huge honor!” The Battier Take Charge Foundation mission revolves around helping troubled youth by providing the necessary tools and resources to gain a good education and develop into effective leaders in society. “When I made it to the NBA, when I made it big, I felt like it was my duty to be able to afford access and opportunity to those who needed it.” This is just one of the many events the foundation is spearheading. Throughout the event, the crowd was able to see glimpses of the different outlets Merrick Park has to offer. The shopping center is home to such names as Crate & Barrel, Nordstrom and one of Coral Gables best restaurants Yardhouse. Despite the fact that the temperature was in the upper 80s, the atmosphere resembled that of any child’s North Pole. Sparkle & Shine Darling Opens in Miami Beach

By Justina Coronel Photography by April Belle Adrienne Bosh’s new boutique, Sparkle and Shine Darling, is like walking into every girl’s ultimate dream of glitter, glitz, glamour, and more. At 1665 Alton Road, Miami Beach, this new location is an event space and a lifestyle boutique as well. With gold accents and pops of pink dispersed everywhere, the store has the perfect touch of elegance and fun all dolled up into one. Adrienne came up with the idea after a birthday getaway with her girlfriends to Paris that her husband, Chris, arranged. Soaking up all the energy of the City of Lights, dressing up from head to toe, and being absolutely fabulous with her girlfriends, led to her inspiration of creating an environment that could empower every woman to feel fabulous, as well. The boutique has the lavish variety of accessories from clothing to purses to notebooks. Not only that, there is a backroom that can host events and special occasions. For now, it is decorated in the cutest tea party theme but it can be transformed into several other classy and glamorous options. Also, in the back, there will always be a photo booth to laugh and enjoy memories together. Adrienne wanted to create this concept in order for guests to enjoy and celebrate life because let’s face it, life is a big celebration. So pop the champagne, throw colorful confetti, and enjoy this new fabulous store that Adrienne has flourished. Sparkle and Shine Darling officially opens to the public on Monday, November 16th.
