Living with Style – FENDI Château Residences

By Angela Betancourt 9365 Collins Ave in Surfside will soon be the home to FENDI Château Residences, a 12 story condominium building with 58 exclusive waterfront residences that feature uninterrupted views along 300-linear feet of pristine beachfront. Miami luxury developer Château Group and FENDI, the Italian luxury house, have joined forces to build this new high-end development located just a few blocks south of the world renowned Bal Harbour Shops. Slated to be completed in the summer of 2016, FENDI Château Residences is the first branded real estate project globally for the FENDI Company, and as of December, is already 50% sold. “We are pleased to bring FENDI Château Residences to the Miami market place. The residences will allow residents to savor the pulsating life of Miami with its avant-garde art and design culture, as well as its sandy beaches and lush surroundings,” said Manuel Grosskopf, Château Group President. On December 2nd during Art Basel, the building ’s sales center held a special event to showcase a full model residence where invited guests had the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the FENDI Château living experience. Every single detail was accounted for; the ultra modern kitchen with Gaggenau appliances, the elegant accessories, and the Italian marble finished bathrooms, were all depicted exactly as they will be when the building is complete. Grosskopf and FENDI Chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari were both in attendance to provide additional project insight and share their excitement to create this luxury project that will be unlike anything else in the community. “This has been a successful and enjoyable partnership. Both Château Group and FENDI share an unwavering passion for producing high quality products with an acute focus on design and creativity, underscored by the art of excellence,” said Grosskopf. The residences and penthouses range from 3,000 square feet to more than 7,000 square feet with prices ranging from $5 million to $25 million. Each unit comes equipped with plush amenity areas designed by FENDI and decorated with FENDI Casa fixtures and fittings. The building’s common areas include a library, business center, ballroom, kid’s club, reflective ponds, a relaxation terrace with aromatherapy, private cinema, lounge with gourmet kitchen, restaurant, a state-of-the-art fitness center overlooking the ocean, bicycle storage, multiple beachfront pools with cabanas, and numerous other lavish amenities. Residents will also have access to “white glove” services, including a 24-hour multi-lingual concierge staff, beachfront and poolside service, and a doorman and valet. “This is a very important project for us,” said Beccari. Together with the Château Group, FENDI Château Residences further establishes the FENDI brand within the luxury private home sector. When the FENDI Château Residences are complete, it will add an entire new dimension of luxury living to the Bal Harbour and Surfside communities. Scarpetta Offers a Six-course Menu For Local Truffle-Shufflers

By Nycole Sariol It’s finally here – truffle Season that is. And while everyday should be spent celebrating the truffle family, Scarpetta, South Florida’s crème-de-la-crème of Italian cuisine in the Fontainebleau, has made up for lost time with a limited-time six-course menu praising the glorified fungus on a nightly basis. From now till March, Chef Marlon Rambaran will relish diners willing to shell out $295 per person with dishes such as Ricotta Truffle Ravioli and Creamy Polenta with fricassée of truffled mushrooms. A steep price, we know. But all is fair in love and war, especially when garnished with shaved white truffle on top. No? If the price of delicacy hasn’t scared you yet, consider the sommelier selected wine pairing offered at $115 per person to accompany your busy night of truffle shuffling.

The Natural Pastels Art Exhibit

By Angela Betancourt This Sunday January 11th from 11am- 4pm, The Futernick Family Art Gallery is celebrating the launch of the Natural Pastels Art Exhibit with an opening reception and brunch. The Natural Pastels Art Exhibit will feature work by more than ten South Florida artists that have used soft pastels in their creations. Ranging in levels of experience and individual styles, the artists will showcase a variety of pieces that include depictions of landscapes, animals, and still lifes. Guests will have the opportunity to explore how versatile and beautiful this art form can be. “The soft pastels were created by a group that works together at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. We admire and learn from each other as we use this challenging but vibrant medium. As a member of the class, it’s quite a treat to be exhibiting with the others, in addition to fulfilling my usual role of putting on exhibits in the Futernick Family Art Gallery,” said Suzy Breitner, Visual Arts and Museum Director. “Particularly gratifying for all of us is the opportunity to dedicate this show to a talented and valued class member, Terrie Newman, who sadly passed away a few months ago. Her work will be prominently displayed.” The exhibit is free and will run through February 21, 2015. All art exhibits may be viewed during programs held in the Futernick Family Gallery and by special appointment. For more information call 305.271.9000 x265 or email sbreitner@alperjcc.org.

Whole Foods Market Opens its Doors to Downtown Miami

By Nycole Sariol Downtowners, rejoice! That unrealistic New Year’s resolution you made about losing twenty pounds in three months may be realized after all! Whole Foods Market, the eponymous marketplace of all things fresh, is slated to open right off of Southeast Third Street in Downtown Miami on Wednesday, January 16th. To kick off the long-awaited inauguration befittingly, the market will host a bread breaking ceremony at 8:45 in the morning, whereby a downpour of customers will oscillate through the countless isles harboring only the freshest in natural and organic delights. The recent Downtown addition is one of four locations set to open this year and the twenty-second to open up in Florida. Exclusive Whole Foods offerings will include an in-house Sushi Maki and La Churrasqueria stations – to name a few – mirroring the schematic of other South Florida locations. Adding to the list of locally sourced produce and fresh seafood, this particular Whole Foods will be the first of its kind to open up a Jugofresh shop within its sliding doors. That’s right, health nuts – all whom fancy Chef Laszlo’s bottled concoctions can now get their juice fix on in store. No word on other Jugofresh and WFM collaborations to popping up. Parking will also be a luxury at the Downtown spot: an 140-spot garage will be designated exclusively for Whole Foods shoppers, and will be color-coated by local street artists. But here’s the real reason why you should camp outside of Whole Foods on the eve of the opening: the first five hundred customers in line will receive “mystery gift cards” of five, ten, or twenty dollars. One lucky customer will also receive the mother-load of gift cards at a value of five hundred dollars. And for anyone familiar with organic groceries and their merciless price points, that’s like hitting the jackpot!

Red Carpet Hair 2015 Predictions by CHI

By Gisel Habibnejad With red carpet season rapidly approaching, viewers anxiously await to see what the stars are wearing and the new beauty trends that will soon make their mark in the fashion world. Thankfully, CHI already made some predictions that we can swoon over until the first award show this Sunday.     “We will see romantic, soft waves with side parts for long and short hair,” says Tammy Mixon, Farouk Systems Global Board Artist and lead Hair Artist for Miss Universe. She uses BioSilk Silk Therapy and BioSilk Volumizing Therapy Texturizing Powder to achieve this look.                       One of the easiest and popular hair styles making its way on recent red carpets is the braid. It is the perfect way to complement a gorgeous gown to accomplish the “I didn’t have to try this hard to look this good” look. Lorena Garcia, Farouk Systems Creative Artist says, “waves will also dominate the award ceremonies – but will be sleek waves – nothing messy, as well as straight sleek looks, combed straight back or with a down the center part.”     Overall, I think it’s safe to say that when it comes to hair, simple yet elegant will always win this season.
