Power Up with J.R. Ramirez

By Gisel Habibnejad From playing a superhero in Arrow to starring as a key person involved in a drug dealing organization in Power, J.R. Ramirez has quite an acting career under his belt. And, it’s only the beginning. The versatile actor, born in Matanzas, Cuba, found his calling in his early twenties after filming several commercials in Tampa, Florida. He then became eager to study theatre, where his passion for acting grew more and more over the years. For the past year, J.R. has been juggling his roles in Arrow and Power. It was inevitable he would discover a resemblance between the two. “Both characters are similar in that they are very smart and have had an extremely hard upbringing.” The superhero series, Arrow, follows several DC Comics heroes and villains, with its protagonist being Green Arrow. J.R. was cast as Ted Grant/Wildcat in the TV show last year, making his debut in the third season. Ted Grant entered the series as a former boxer and current gym owner for underprivileged children. As the show progresses, fans have been excited to see hints that lead up to his big reveal as Wildcat, his vigilante persona. Preparing for this role has helped him gain a deeper appreciation for boxing. The second season of the STARZ series, Power, will include a lot more of J.R.’s mysterious character, Julio. The show follows a high profile nightclub owner, Ghost, who also runs an exclusive drug dealing organization on the side. That’s when Julio steps in. Julio becomes Ghost’s right-hand man and second in command. Premiering June 6th, viewers will finally get an in-depth look into his story and find out why he’s one of Ghost’s most trusted confidants. “This year, things really seem to spiral out of control. The stakes are ridiculously high and Julio plays an intricate part in making sure things stay as tight as possible. He also shared his excitement for fans to see how his character manages to twist the plot this season. J.R. has also enjoyed working with the cast, such as Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who plays Ghost’s mentor and is also the show’s executive producer. “50 is a trip!” says the humble actor. “We crack jokes all day. I love how dedicated he is to the growth of his character. I think people are going to be very surprised.” When J.R. was just a child, he and his family made the big move from Cuba to South Florida. His favorite family traditions include Christmastime back home with his family. “Lots of good Cuban food and salsa dancing – can’t beat that!” Today, he resides in Los Angeles and newly enjoys playing golf. “Now, I just have to stop hitting trees, water, and people and it’ll be perfect!” he playfully remarks. Aside from boxing to prepare for his role, his workout routine consists of tennis, hiking, and some yoga classes. With his career on the rise, there’s no telling what heights J.R. will reach. He gushed over his fondness for film and how he would enjoy to be involved in other facets of the industry, stating he will definitely love to direct in the future. He also dishes on some of the many actors he would love to work with. “There are so many great actors out there, but I love the work Mark Ruffalo is doing.” Presently, J.R. loves all the projects he’s involved in, “I feel like we really stepped up our game for Power’s Season 2, and I’m sure I can speak for all of us when I say…I can’t wait for June 6th!” Power premieres June 6th at 9pm on STARZ For more information about Power, please visit starz.com/originals/power For more information about Arrow, please visit cwtv.com/shows/arrow Follow J.R. Rob Scheppy: Shimmery Shadows & Matte Makeup

CELEBRITY MAKEUP ARTIST LAUNCHES ‘TINI BEAUTY SHADOW PALETTE By Gisel Habibnejad Rob Scheppy, makeup artist and hair stylist to the stars, is anything but ordinary when it comes to makeup. He’s behind the show-stopping makeup trends seen on everyone from the Kardashians to Heidi Klum to Mariah Carey, and so much more. What began as small gigs in Miami took him all the way to Los Angeles where he grew his high profile clientele list. Now, women everywhere can finally be blessed with his magical touch by using his latest makeup venture – Rob Scheppy for ‘Tini Beauty Shadow Palette ($39.50). Rob’s love for makeup and beauty products began as a child, “I grew up in a house full of sisters so I was exposed early to makeup and beauty products, and became fascinated.” His first big break came when he was working at a fashion show, where he was approached with the opportunity to work at the 2008 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Miami. At the show, he was also granted the opportunity to do makeup for celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, and Kristin Cavallari. Now, let’s talk about his highly sought after eye shadow palette! Rob Scheppy for ‘Tini Beauty Shadow Palette contains an array of shades that can easily be transformed from day to night, all in one palette. “I wanted a palette of my must-haves as an artist – versatile shades that can be mixed and matched and used in different combinations to create a custom look for any occasion.” What’s his favorite combination of shadows, you ask? Cinnamon-Tini and White Russian. ‘Tini Beauty colors are famously named after cocktails, and this palette is no exception. Rob and the ‘Tini Beauty team researched cocktail names to match each color. Use the matte shades for a daytime look, then switch it up with the shimmery tones for that Hollywood glam nighttime gleam. For summer, his favorite trend is “the warm, subtle shimmer of Rosé Champagne on the lid, on the crease, and along the lash line. Combine this with a dab of Pearl Fizz in the inner corners and brow bones. So easy, fresh, and alluring.” The colors can be used dry, for shadow application and blending; or wet, as an upper lash line eyeliner. To get the best results and use from his palette, he recommends Tweezerman’s shadow brushes to apply and blend the colors when dry. If used as liner, the angled brush works best to get that precise cat-eyed look when wet. Rob has done makeup for a variety of clients and media outlets, such as commercials, major ad campaigns, music videos, TV shows, and more. But, his favorites have to be magazines and weddings, “major magazine covers always make me proud, but being chosen to do clients’ weddings have to be the most meaningful.” His favorite beauty icon is Madonna. He always feels inspired by her trendsetting ways as a risk-taker, re-inventor, and artist. When asked if he would partner up with other beauty brands in the future, he responded positively with: “I love all things makeup, so you never know!” We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented artist. The Rob Scheppy for ‘Tini Beauty Shadow Palette is available at tinibeauty.com

Bagatelle: French Cuisine with a Twist

By Angela Betancourt Photography Courtesy of Bagatelle As Miami further cements itself as a major player in the global culinary stage, it continues to attract the attention of celebrated restaurant brands from around the world. Bagatelle, the upscale modern French cuisine restaurant with locations in New York, St. Barth, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, St. Tropez, and Dubai, is the latest restaurant brand to establish a location in Miami Beach. Bagatelle owners Remi Laba and Auymeric Clemente recently opened the 144-seat location on South Beach at 2000 Collins Ave after much anticipation. Zagat even included it in its Miami’s Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings of 2015 list. Executive Chef Matthieu Godard formerly of Boulud is at the helm serving modern French dishes such as Lamb Horiatiki; Poulet Entier Roti a la Truffe – whole truffled roasted chicken, country style potatoes, caramelized cipollini, button mushrooms, thyme chicken, and Jus; Gambas au Pastis – Jumbo prawn, fl ambé with Ricard anise; and Gnocchi Truffes a la Parisienne – homemade gnocchi, black truffle sauce, with aged parmesan cheese among many others. Bagatelle also offers diners a worldly collection of wines and champagne. The dining experience extends beyond the plate and into the restaurant’s décor. Guests will enjoy their meal or drinks in an environment that makes art an integral part of the dining process. Design company Celano Design kept the familiar looks of its sister locations of beige and white furnishings but accented them with decorative moldings, elegant banquets, and crystal chandeliers. Vibrant pop art provided by the Opera Gallery can also be found hanging on the walls; giving an extra dimension of color. These exclusive pieces of art will constantly rotate and works by artist SEEN, known as the “Godfather of Graffiti,” will be a premier artist on display. In addition to its unique design, Bagatelle is also known for its party atmosphere. The owners have every intention of living up to their reputation of being one of the liveliest culinary destinations in the world. A DJ spinning the latest music hits and live performances throughout the night are to be expected. The music gets louder with each passing hour and there is a “St. Tropez meets South Beach” energy that permeates throughout the entire restaurant. Just like its other locations, Bagatelle has already begun attracting some of the city’s tastemakers and is quickly becoming one of the hottest spots in town. Bagatelle is located at 2000 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139 For more information, please visit www.bistrotbagatelle.com

Top Beaches of the World

By Dawn Wilson When traveling to the beach, everyone has their ideal image of how they plan on spending their time. Some people may choose to find an isolated beachfront, where they have the beach all to themselves. While others may want to be surrounded by tourists, moving from one water activity to the next. There is certainly no shortage of beaches for which you are able to design the ideal vacation for you and your family. Here are four of the most popular beach destinations in the world. You can decide which one appeals to you the most and begin making plans to visit on your next vacation. COOK ISLANDS Muri Beach in Rarotonga is one of the most popular beach destinations in the world. It is a white sand beach lined with palm trees around the exterior. The beach, with its Pacific Ocean reef, makes it possible to safely swim here. While it is a fairly quiet beach, you will still find some water sports offered, such as, wind and kite surfing. No trip to Cook Islands would be complete without learning a bit about its history. You can do this by visiting one of the islands’ main attractions, the Cook Island Cultural Village. It is situated in a garden setting with water surrounding it, while performances take place on floating stages. Nightly shows, set overwater, explain the Polynesian history and culture. For more information, please visit www.cookislands.travel TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS The most visited beach in Turks and Caicos is definitely Grace Bay Beach in Providencials. There are 12 miles of exquisite white sand beaches to explore. Grace Bay Beach is a rather active beach as it offers a variety of sporting activities, such as diving and deep-sea fishing. A favorite attraction at Grace Bay Beach is the private guided horseback tours of Caicos Corral. It is offered just West of the beach where there are few tourists around. This is great for first time riders because they are able to gallop along at a more comfortable pace, while learning how to ride. Experienced riders go at their own pace, enjoying the scenery while riding along the beachfront. For more information, please visit www.turksandcaicostourism.com BORA BORA, TAHITI Bora Bora’s Lafayette Beach is located on the main island of Tahiti. If you’ve never experienced a black sand beach, you can experience it for the first time at Lafayette Beach. The waters are calm, warm, and inviting. It is usually very quiet and an ideal place for swimming. Huahine Beach has soft white sand with waters of deep, rich blue hues. Many attractions can be found here, as the waters are ideal for snorkeling and other water activities. A must do while visiting Bora Bora is breakfast by canoe. It is more about the presentation than the food. A canoe will arrive to your bungalow, outfitted with lots of exotic flowers, full of delectable pastries, fresh fruits and juices. You are treated like Polynesian royalty. For more information, please visit www.tahiti-tourisme.com SEYCHELLES, AFRICA One stretch of beach where many romantic escapades take place on is Anse Takamaka Beach in Seychelles. It is a pure, unspoiled, white sand beach that beckons romance. The waters are warm and surrounded by lush tropics. Few people are on this beach, which makes it ideal for couples to explore and enjoy. It offers plenty of photo opportunities, as this beach is picture perfect. It is great for long walks and private picnics. If you are up for something interesting to do, after a day at the beach, visit Trois Freres Distillery. This is where the famous Takamaka Rum is produced. You will find out how the various flavors of rum are made while on a rum tasting tour. For more information, please visit www.seychelles.travel

Victoria Rafaeli: A Style Star is Born

By Katie Jackson Photographed by Danielle Margherite Victoria Rafaeli has certainly taken the blogosphere by storm. Launching her fashion blog “Victoria’s Vision” a mere three months ago, the professional photographer and former Big Brother Season 16 contestant has already accumulated hundreds of thousands of loyal readers eagerly awaiting her next post. For Rafaeli, style was always a passion, but with the exposure of Big Brother, Rafaeli was given a platform to launch one of the most successful fashion blogs in Miami, and in the country. After leaving Big Brother, Rafaeli received numerous letters from fans asking about her style. “They would ask me about specific outfits they took pictures of while I was on the show, and how they can recreate the look based on their body type,” says Rafaeli. After receiving such a large amount of style inquiries, Rafaeli decided to create a place where all of her fans could go and learn how to mimic her personal style. “I knew I had to share my passion and vision of fashion with the world and I welcomed ‘Victoria’s Vision!’” Three months later, Rafaeli’s blog became a bona fide brand. With beautifully curated personal style and beauty posts, as well as the occasional inside look at Miami’s premier lifestyle scene, it’s clearly evident why Rafaeli is such a hot commodity. But Rafaeli attributes every bit of her success to her readers. “I feel so blessed to have such loyal fans and supportive followers on social media. I’m happy that I get to share my passion with them every single day and am so thankful to see they appreciate what I do! They really keep me going every day.” Apart from blogging, Rafaeli also runs her own successful photography company, Victoria Rafaeli Photography, where she takes professional photographs for weddings and formal portraits. Starting the company at just 19 years old, Rafaeli adores creating lasting memories for her clients. “Capturing laughter, tears of happiness, or just pure love, that’s my job! And to see the joy on my clients’ faces when they see that image, that feeling is everything!” When she isn’t working, Rafaeli enjoys shopping and people watching in Miami Beach. “I personally love going to Lincoln Road to see all of the beautiful tourists who arrive here from all over the world,” says Rafaeli. “They really do inspire me to shop and I enjoy being surrounded by so many people from different cultures.” Rafaeli also likes to hangout in Brickell. “It’s always a fun place to mingle and get inspired by young professionals in different fields.” With the future of “Victoria’s Vision” looking very promising, readers can expect to see posts on Rafaeli’s favorite spring and summer trends, including head-to-toe white looks and backless maxi dresses. “A maxi is so timeless and comfortable, yet looks so chic,” says Rafaeli. Hello, Hausammann!

By Jessica Faroy Photography by Alex Medina Outside, men moved their hands: a sharp slap of the palm, a graceful gesture of the wrist, a swift stroke of the fingers. All leading to shoulder grasps, handshakes and texting exchanges. On the steps of the doorway these habitual movements made the Hausammann Gallery feel all the more welcoming. Just inside stood Cope2. Composed and concentrated, his hands swayed to their own movement. A spray can was held in his palm, and with his finger on the nozzle and his wrist moving in grace, he performed live art in his solo exhibition. On Saturday, March 14th, the Hausammann Gallery opened their doors to Wynwood. Owned by Frederico and Beatrice Hausammann, the third generation of the Hausammann lineage of Cortina, Italy, their partnership has now brought another gallery to Wynwood. The expansion and decade-long commitment is their way of showing an admiration for the preservation of art and the society it circles around. Known for being observers of contemporary art, their transition to another continent seems to be justified by the urban culture Wynwood offers artists. Regarding their move, Beatrice commented, “We want to be part of the street art scene and what better place than Wynwood to do that!” The growing art community is known for their graffiti, wall-paintings and galleries, all lining up to add to the 21st century contemporary art movement. With the time that the Hausammanns have been in Miami, it has proved to be a learning experience for them. “The people that we have met, have been friendly and we believe that the art scene will continue to grow in the future,” says Beatrice. With this growth in mind, the Hausammanns seem to want to tackle a particularly popular subject in contemporary art – street art. The gallery opening, featuring long time friend and great business connection, street artist Cope2, showed viewers the gallery’s interest in street-art and their attempts to have gallery selections “reflect modern culture.” However, with countless galleries and countless artistic expression, what exactly can the Hausammann Gallery offer Wynwood? According to Beatrice, “the gallery will not only contribute to charity with unique projects, but be an outlet for local artists to express themselves. [Wynwood is] a strong art community, with some artists making great strides in the global art community.” After the grand opening of the gallery, spectators were left questioning future projects, exhibitions and collaborations. The Hausammanns did not budge. The only insight they gave was an alluring “stay tuned.” To those familiar with the Hausammann Gallery in Cortina, expect to see some parallel projects. As for those familiar with local artists, Beatrice revealed interest in street artists Cale and Atomik, elaborating, “We were lucky to have met Cale, an international renowned artist from Los Angeles, and Atomik, a Miami based artist, that we are going to feature in our upcoming art fair in Germany.” The Hausammann Gallery is located at 251 NW 23rd Street, Miami, FL 33127 For more information on the Hausammann Gallery, please visit www.HausammannGallery.com

Vixen Workout: Finding Your Inner Strength

By Gisel Habibnejad Photography by Alex Medina Famed Miami workout sensation, Vixen Workout, rapidly rose to the top in the fitness world in the last few years. Janet Jones, “Commander-in-Chief” of the Vixen Army, had no idea the potential of her idea when she took a risk by leaving everything conventional behind to pursue a happier and better lifestyle. Her inspiration has touched women across the country because she has anchored her real emotions to help empower other women and mothers in the work force. Janet has always had a passion for dance. Her résumé includes the Miami Heat Dance Team in 2005. After she left the team, she hopelessly fell into a corporate job because she felt it was the standard thing to do. Like many women, she subconsciously fell into what usually becomes a “zombie life” – dedicating your entire being to work and the household. While she really loves being a mother, she felt trapped by this routine and found herself emotionless as her light faded away. When she was laid off from her conventional job, she was left with nothing but 13 cents in her bank account and a newborn baby to support. With much courage and effort, she finally decided to take action. Something most people fear and shy away from. She then turned to her first love: dance. Janet channeled all her energy towards this passion and finally began to feel like herself again. She knew she wanted to help other women channel their inner beauty, too. “Abandoning yourself does not make you a better mother, wife, sister, daughter, etc. You need to take care of yourself first in order to take better care of everyone around you.” With the support and love of her family, the Vixen Workout was born. The goal of the class is to make every woman feel like they are in a nightclub with their friends dancing the night away, while unknowingly burning 1,000 calories per class (400-600 for beginners). The ultimate Vixen Army woman is “a woman who has found her light (or reignited it) and makes every woman around her see herself in the best possible light,” shares the Miami native. The hour long classes are made for every type of body shape and fitness need, whether you aim to lose weight or just simply want to tone up. However, the classes cannot be fully effective without a healthy diet, as any other workout routine. Speaking of nightclubs, Janet shares her favorite memory so far with Vixen Workout is when she took her class to LIV Nightclub, which sold out within 24 hours. The club was packed with 300 women of her Vixen Army. Every month, the Vixen Army can expect Janet to create new choreography and playlists. She produces routines that are easy to pick-up, whether you are a professional dancer or have never taken a dance class before in your life. With 102 choreographed routines to date, she has no plans of stopping any time soon. In August, she will be launching a nationwide certification program. So, how does this fitness maven juggle her business life with her personal life? She balances out her schedule with work, family, and fun. If she finds herself with one busy workweek, she will dedicate the next week to her family, home, and personal time. For her, family comes first and she would never let anything get in the way of that. She also shared some advice for those who have lost their light: “Each one of us is here to do something amazing. Listen to the voice inside not what ‘society’ tells you to do. The voice inside is your connection to your true self. Keep dreaming!” With the success of the Vixen Workout, Janet is happy to say she has found her light and happiness once again. “I have had the opportunity to change lives by doing what I love. I feel as if it is now my responsibility to affect as many women as possible.” For more information on the Vixen Workout, please visit vixenworkout.com

Adrienne Bosh: The Ultimate Cheerleader for Women – Cover Shoot

Interviewed by KATIE JACKSON, Photographed by IMANI OGDEN, Wardrobe Styling by BRIANNA AGOSTO, Hair & Makeup by TAMIA EVERETT FOR TAMIASTYLES, Location: MSM STUDIOS, EDGEWATER DISTRICT Excited for her cover photo shoot, Adrienne Bosh stepped into MSM studios and posed as photographer Imani Ogden snapped her picture. Music from Bosh’s personal iTunes library played over the speakers, and after a series of photos, she began to dance and laugh, lighting up both the camera and the room with her genuine warmth and positivity. This happy and positive attitude is what helped make Bosh the phenomenon she is today. As the wife of Miami Heat center and power forward Chris Bosh, mother of three, business owner, blogger, party planner, and active philanthropist, Bosh is so much more than meets the eye. Born in Indiana, Bosh says her Midwestern upbringing provided her with a solid ground of morals that make her the person she is today. Raised by a single mother, she learned at a young age the importance of independence, a quality she hopes to now instill in her own children. “I love encouraging my children to be self-sufficient, and to become whatever it is they want to be,” says Bosh. As a mother to Dylan Skye and Jackson, and stepmother to Trinity, Bosh feels that motherhood has enriched her life in every sense. “My kids have taught me amazing patience, and they have taught me the importance of living in the moment.” With her family as her number one priority, Bosh has also managed to create a movement so powerful that she has deeply impacted other families’ lives. In addition to holding the position of Vice President of Team Tomorrow Inc., a charitable organization founded by her husband, Bosh has made it her mission to encourage and empower women everywhere. She hosts an annual Mother’s Day brunch called Today I Can, which treats new and expectant mothers to a day of pampering and baby supplies. She has also chaired the Dress for Success Gala, an event that provides professional clothing and career development strategies to unemployed women in South Florida.  Apart from her philanthropic spirit, Bosh strives to provide multiple outlets for women to seek out when they are in need of fashion and health advice, laughter, or overall inspiration. Starting a blog on her website, AdrienneBosh.com, Bosh shares her own personal struggles and triumphs with her readers. “I feel like as a young woman, I didn’t have a lot of women share their secrets with me, their heartbreaks, their sad times, or their struggles,” says Bosh. “I just had to learn the hard way. I feel like we can do better as women to help equip the next woman sooner, faster, better. Those five minutes you take to talk to a young girl could change her life, and I just want to be able to do that.” But perhaps her biggest venture yet will be the opening of her retail boutique and event venue, Sparkle and Shine Darling. Opening in May, Bosh has put her heart and soul into creating a space where women can gather to celebrate each other. After her husband and closest girlfriends threw her a beautiful Parisian themed party in Paris for her 29th birthday, Bosh felt inspired to create a similar experience for Miami women. “My girlfriends spent months shopping to find these items from vintage stores and different themed stores. But they never found one store that sold all of these items,” says Bosh. “So when I came back from Paris, I really wanted to create a place where women could not only shop for items to celebrate these women, but also provide a place where they can have a beautiful occasion and party like the one my friends had given me.” In providing multiple themes for any occasion, including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, garden tea party, Gatsby champagne, and a Parisian rendezvous, Bosh wants to provide a space for customers to celebrate birthdays, graduations, baby and bridal showers, bachelorette parties and so much more. As far as the boutique’s name, Bosh wanted to incorporate her love of “sparkling and shining,” while also receiving a little help from her husband. “My whole theory behind sparkling and shining is that if you are totally confident, and totally okay with how you are shining and sparkling in life, then you will succeed. But I added darling because that’s my husband’s nickname for me. He’s from Texas and he’s very southern. So he always says ‘whatever you want to eat, darling,’ or ‘whatever you want, darling.’ So the darling came from him,” says Bosh. “At the end of the day, I want my darlings to feel the same way when my husband calls me darling. I want my darlings to feel loved, supported, encouraged, and confident. Because when my husband calls me darling, I feel all of those things.” Bosh also envisions her boutique as not only a place to host and celebrate occasions, but to throw events to bring communities of women together. “My goal is to have this as a space for any event meant to encourage women,” says Bosh. “Whether it’s a women’s entrepreneur night, a book club night, or new moms’ night, I want to provide a space where women can come together and support each other,” says Bosh. “It’s much more than a store, it’s a movement.” As Bosh’s interview comes to a close, she makes sure to thank every person in the room before leaving, showing that she truly lives and breathes everything she encourages. An example for women not only living in Miami, but women everywhere, Bosh is the epitome of a darling whose sparkle and shine will never go out. Christine Bullock: The Evolution of Fitness

By Angela Betancourt Photographed by Sarah Orbanic Christine Bullock is a triple threat. She is a fitness model, wellness expert, and fashion maven that has set a new standard in the industry and she is only getting started. She’s been voted “LA’s Hottest Trainer,” has been featured in dozens of national magazines and TV programs, and her Butt Lift DVD won top Pilates DVD of 2013. Perhaps the only things more impressive than her accolades are her credentials. She has a BA in Psychology and Education and was a ballet dancer with the Pittsburg Ballet Theatre. She also has certificates in Pilates, Yoga, Barre, TRX, HIIT, Pre and Postnatal fitness, and nutrition.   Christine recently developed a new fitness series called “Evolution 20” which is a 60 day workout program and nutritional plan that requires only 20 minutes a day. As a busy woman herself, Christine saw an opportunity to create a program that would be effective and wouldn’t demand too much of our already busy lives.   Christine believes that fitness and nutrition are the keys to living life to the fullest. Eating well, exercising, and feeling good about yourself will not only get you ready for summer, but will enhance your overall quality of life. “Fitness is about creating the strongest version of yourself.”   In January Christine came to Miami to do a photo shoot for the all-natural Champion Naturals and shared a few words of wisdom on getting ready for summer and building a healthier life.   Don’t diet. “Going on a diet is restrictive and it’s like a punishment. I eat more than the people around me but I eat healthy.” Instead, focus on eating healthier foods. The number one thing she would recommend everyone stop eating right now is sugar. Sugar is in everything including processed foods so it’s not the easiest thing to eliminate.   Mix up your workouts. Get off the treadmill and try something different. “A 20-minute hard core work out is more effective than spending two hours doing the same thing.” Even celebrities in Hollywood have caught on to variety in working out. Christine points out that some Victoria Secret models have incorporated boxing to tone the upper body. Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna also mix things up. “Changing up your workout and tricking the body is what helps improve your physical form.” Stick to it. Though eating well and increasing your fitness level will put you on the road to a healthier you, results will be minimal if you don’t stick to it. Finding the motivation to work out can sometimes be difficult. Christine suggests reaching out to a friend. Having someone workout with you makes you accountable for each other and can serve as extra motivation. Push through it. On particularly hard days when working out is the last thing you want to do, you just have to push through the feelings. “The first 10 minutes can be miserable,” describes Christine about her tough days. “But if you push past those 10 minutes eventually things get easier.” Make a plan. An effective way to commit to a workout plan, is to “schedule things into a calendar and make them nonnegotiable items on your to do list. When you schedule things into your day you are more likely to follow through.” This isn’t just true for workouts. On Sundays, Christine plans out all her meals and workouts for the week. She also prepares some of the ingredients beforehand; she makes hummus, salsas, and chops up vegetables so they’re ready to go. Get the latest look. Christine loves fashion and blogs about fashionable gear on her website. She believes that feeling confident while exercising is an important part in having a good workout and wearing the right outfit can make a big difference. One of her favorite places to shop is Carbon 38. They feature a massive variety of active wear for just about every activity. “They have 70-100 new arrivals every month and there is something for you no matter what your style.” Christine gravitates to their Michi and Alo Yoga collections and loves bright colored gym shorts and apparel for spring. Christine also recommends checking out Lorna Jane Active Living, which is also very hot right now.

DELPOZO: Fantastical Fashion

By Katie Jackson Photography Courtesy of DELPOZO Spanish fashion house DELPOZO stepped onto the New York Fashion Week runway a mere two years ago, permanently captivating the hearts of many with truly awe-inspiring collections. DELPOZO, now a NYFW mainstay, has reveled in an enormous amount of success, largely due to new creative director Josep Font, appointed in 2012. Font has taken DELPOZO above and beyond the imaginable, using his architectural background to construct intricate masterpieces. Now, not only has DELPOZO proven to be a powerful fashion house, the sophisticated designs are paving the way for extreme innovative creativity.                   This season, Font was inspired by Josef Albers’ The Interaction of Color, the land art of Nils-Udo, and marine life, as captured in Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka’s 19th Century glass creations. Drawing on this inspiration, the Spring/Summer 2015 collection features a combination of bright and bold hues such as grass green, midnight blue, and lemon yellow with softer tones to create an ultra- feminine aesthetic. In addition, as a reference to Nils-Udo, Font exhibits his architectural expertise using shapes and colors from nature, featuring structured pleats, richly crafted lapels, and sleeves that resemble delicate petals. Font also used exceptional cottons, silks, and linens, while incorporating delicate fabrics such as tulle bobbinet, reserved solely for Haute Couture. As a nod to marine life, seashells are used as well as sequins and intricate beading. The brilliant DELPOZO Spring/Summer 2015 collection is a must-have for every fashionista. To peruse the collection, visit the Design District location at 35 NE 40th Street, Miami, FL 33137, or online at www.DELPOZO.com.
